服务器管理痛点:服务器故障及数据损坏恢复时间长成本高、硬盘难扩容、数据无备份

网络管理痛点:人工管理IP/带宽易出错、租户间相互暴露易泄密、机柜跳线多。

运维痛点:单机柜部署密度低、需人工7*24小时值守、服务器响应慢甚至无响应。

但裸金属服务器与传统服务器存在着本质的区别,为何也在运维管理方面连带遭殃?早前,裸金属服务器概念兴起,但并不被公众所认知,很多人都会将它误认为是物理机的“替身”,因此质疑声不断。

但实际上,裸金属服务器与传统物理机有着天壤之别。裸金属服务器再被关注,很大一部分原因在于它提供的灵活性与无损性能,也就是说,裸金属服务器兼顾了虚拟机与物理机的双重优势。至于运维管理,裸金属服务器已经能像管理虚拟机一样管理物理机。

提及Ironic,可以说是推动裸金属服务器一路看好的最强催化剂,尽管Ironic的成熟度还不是很高,但随着OpenStack第18版“Rocky”乃至第19版“Stein”对Ironic的不断强化与改进,已经不难看出Ironic的重要性。而根据这一点,也就不难推测由Ironic所支撑的裸金属服务器,在今后将更会大放异彩。
